CUYAHOGA RIVER REMEDIAL ACTION PLAN
CUYAHOGA AMERICAN HERITAGE RIVER

Restoration Projects

JULY 11, 2008

BREAKING NEW GROUND...LITERALLY

With Dave Lincheck at the podium, Dave Vasarhelyi in the wings and Independence Mayor Greg Kurtz at the wheel of the big orange backhoe, the West Creek Preservation Committee kicked off its latest project - the restoration of the West Creek/Cuyahoga River Confluence.

When the building and the paving are gone, what's left will be a ten-acre parkland, and a creek restored to its meandering way. The project will bring not only cleaner water to the river but also lots of people who would never have known a river ran there, on the north side of Granger Rd. (Route 17) just west of Brecksville Road (Route 21) and a stone's throw from the Canalway.

The Cuyahoga River Community Planning Organization (CRCPO)
is host to the Cuyahoga River Remedial Action Plan (RAP) and
the Cuyahoga American Heritage River Initiative.

We work with partners, stakeholders and communities
in five Northeast Ohio counties to restore and revitalize the
Cuyahoga River Watershed and Areas Of Concern, and
to improve water quality in the watershed and Lake Erie.
